By the night when it covers

শপথ রাত্রির, যখন সে আচ্ছন্ন করে

And [by] the day when it appears

শপথ দিনের, যখন সে আলোকিত হয়

And [by] He who created the male and female

এবং তাঁর, যিনি নর ও নারী সৃষ্টি করেছেন

Indeed, your efforts are diverse

নিশ্চয় তোমাদের কর্ম প্রচেষ্টা বিভিন্ন ধরনের।

As for he who gives and fears Allah

অতএব, যে দান করে এবং খোদাভীরু হয়

And believes in the best [reward]

এবং উত্তম বিষয়কে সত্য মনে করে

We will ease him toward ease

আমি তাকে সুখের বিষয়ের জন্যে সহজ পথ দান করব।

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

আর যে কৃপণতা করে ও বেপরওয়া হয়

And denies the best [reward]

এবং উত্তম বিষয়কে মিথ্যা মনে করে

We will ease him toward difficulty

আমি তাকে কষ্টের বিষয়ের জন্যে সহজ পথ দান করব।

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls

যখন সে অধঃপতিত হবে, তখন তার সম্পদ তার কোনই কাজে আসবে না।

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance

আমার দায়িত্ব পথ প্রদর্শন করা।

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]

আর আমি মালিক ইহকালের ও পরকালের।

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing

অতএব, আমি তোমাদেরকে প্রজ্বলিত অগ্নি সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করে দিয়েছি।

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

এতে নিতান্ত হতভাগ্য ব্যক্তিই প্রবেশ করবে

Who had denied and turned away

যে মিথ্যারোপ করে ও মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়।

But the righteous one will avoid it

এ থেকে দূরে রাখা হবে খোদাভীরু ব্যক্তিকে

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

যে আত্নশুদ্ধির জন্যে তার ধন-সম্পদ দান করে।

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

এবং তার উপর কারও কোন প্রতিদানযোগ্য অনুগ্রহ থাকে না।

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High

তার মহান পালনকর্তার সন্তুষ্টি অন্বেষণ ব্যতীত।

And he is going to be satisfied

সে সত্বরই সন্তুষ্টি লাভ করবে।
